How to Find High-Paying Fiverr Freelance Writing Jobs

Fiverr freelance writing changed my life. Before Fiverr, I was pitching job boards and working through agencies to grow my business. But neither of those options gave me the control I really wanted from a writing career.

With Fiverr, I connected directly with clients, set my own rates, took the projects I wanted, and finally felt like I could call myself a business owner.

If you're freelance writing (or any other type of creative freelancing), don't write off a marketplace like Fiverr just yet. Here's how I find high-paying writing jobs through the platform (and why I've had to raise my rates four times since starting).

What is Fiverr?

Fiverr is a freelance marketplace that connects freelancers with business owners and individuals looking for creative services. It's a great place to find freelance writing jobs because there's a seemingly endless line of customers that need content.

Fiverr also has a forum where people can discuss writing jobs and share advice.

To find writing jobs on Fiverr, you'll need to create an account and create a gig. Gigs are the individual services you offer that people can buy from you. You'll earn money from the work that you do on Fiverr, just like any other freelancer would.

Fiverr is a great way to get started in the world of freelance writing, and it's also a great place to find challenging and interesting projects to work on.

Why Fiverr freelance writing?

I love Fiverr for lots of reasons. It has taken my freelance writing career to the next level and has given me the freedom and flexibility I craved when I started freelancing.

Some other advantages include:

  • It's easy to get started

  • You can offer different types of Fiverr freelance writing

  • Work with clients all over the world

  • Set your own rates and turnaround times

  • Get tips!

  • Receive tons of support via free webinars, articles, and other resources

Also, you don't need any experience to start freelancing on Fiverr. If you have a way with words and some patience, it's pretty easy to make money here.

What type of freelancer writing work is available on Fiverr?

Fiverr gives you tons of ways to make money writing. My specialty is SEO blogs and articles, but you don't have to go that route. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Content writing

  • landing page writing

  • Product description writing

  • Resume writing

  • Cover letter writing

  • Translation services

  • LinkedIn profile writing

  • Sales and ad copy writing

  • Case study writing

  • eBook writing

These are just the tip of the iceberg. I highly recommend you check my blog post, 22 Types of Freelance Writing, for more inspiration.

Best of all, you don't have to pick just one! You can list multiple gigs when you first start freelance writing on Fiverr. In fact, I highly recommend starting with more than one service so you can improve your chances of getting work. The market will do the rest for you.

How much do most people earn with a freelance writing career on Fiverr?

Salaries for Fiverr freelance writing can vary. You'll see some people offering blogs for $5 and $10, and then others for $100 and $200. That's what makes gauging an hourly rate so tough.

Sources estimate a freelance writer on Fiverr makes about $26 per hour. But again, this is just an estimation.

If you're an efficient writer with great skills and repeat customers, you'll likely make more than this. Significantly more.

I know some freelance writers are making a killing using Fiverr, raking in six-figure salaries year after year.

You might not charge a top-tier price when you're getting started. One strategy I've seen work well is to price your services affordably (but not $5 or $10), then increase your prices as you move up in Seller Levels. The more five-star reviews you get, the more those reviews will become your best marketing tool. And the less price will become a factor for clients.

How do you find high-paying writing jobs on Fiverr?

How do you find high-paying freelance writing jobs on Fiverr? Actually, you don't.

What's interesting about Fiverr is that clients come to you. This is the reason I chose Fiverr vs. other freelance platforms. I didn't want to waste all my time pitching and selling myself when I could be using that time to work with clients.

That said, here’s how to get writing clients to notice you and hire you.

Start Strong with a Gig Headline

First, you'll need a great gig headline and profile. Gig headlines should be short and to the point, but not overly generic. Use an action word up front and be specific about what you're offering the client.

Set Attractive Rates

You should also compare rates from other freelancer writers so you can set your rates accordingly. You don't have to be the lowest-priced writer to get the job. But you don't want to be the most expensive writer when you're just starting. Clients will hire you at higher rates once you've earned some reviews and demonstrated your skills and professionalism.

Choose an Eye-Grabbing Image

You should also include a great image that's not a stock photo. Images attract more eyeballs to your gig, so make it look professional and reflective of your services. Bonus tip: Find a Fiverr freelancer to create a great gig image for you!

Have Samples Ready to Justify Your Rates

No matter what you’re charging, clients will want to see samples of your work. If you’re aiming for high-paying writing gigs, your samples will need to reflect the quality that makes the price a no-brainer.

Be Confident

This is the most important part! If you’re confident in your rates and skills, your prospective clients will be, too. How you communicate can help them realize they’re dealing with a skilled professional.

What are some tips for writing great Fiverr gig descriptions?

When you're hoping to get freelance writing jobs on Fiverr, your goal is to help clients find you in their searches. One way to do this is by using keywords in your description to target the right type of client.

You should also list your skills and experience in order to show why you're a great choice. The description is your chance to be unique and stand out from other writers. Give the client a reason to say yes and hire you!

Here's a great example of a strong writing gig description:

And another one:

And another:

One other thing I like to do is infuse my personality into the description. I'm not all business. I want clients to feel like they know me as a person. I usually use my gig description to sell my services, but I use my Fiverr profile description to add an air of personality.

How to keep Fiverr freelance writing clients coming back

I recently found out that about 80% of my Fiverr orders come from repeat clients. I earned the Repeat Business badge and other clients can see this on my profile.

I've also had a lot of clients that only need one-off projects. They checked the box on their to-do list and sunk into the abyss. That's fine, too.

So, what's my secret for getting as many clients as possible to keep coming back?

It's not really a "secret" at all. Just give good service. Be proactive about updating the clients on their projects. Ask lots of questions so you can deliver great work. It's all very basic stuff that I see too many Fiverr freelance writing "experts" overlook.

This goes back to what I mentioned earlier about only taking the jobs you really want. When I first started freelance writing, I never wanted to turn down an opportunity. If it was a topic I didn't know much about, I decided today was the day I would learn.

I set myself up for success a lot doing this. But there were also times when I set myself up for failure. Sometimes, a project just wasn't a great fit. I wasted time trying to figure it out and still missed the mark.

If you're considering using Fiverr, I advise you to only accept the projects you really feel set up to take. Otherwise, not only do you risk wasting time on a poor fit, but you also risk getting a bad review from the client if it doesn't meet their needs.

How do you get started with Fiverr freelance writing?

Getting started with Fiverr freelance writing is easy. Just create a profile, set up a gig, and start selling. You'll need to do some tax-related stuff and maybe take a skills test. But those are fairly straightforward things that you can breeze through in a few minutes.

Fiverr freelance writing is just one option for freelancing on Fiverr. In an upcoming blog, I'm dishing out 100 different ways you can freelance, most of which you can do on Fiverr.
